A Love Story Blossomed into Burt's Pumpkin Farm: The Legacy of Johnny and Kathy Burt

In the heart of Dawsonville, Georgia, amidst the rolling hills and rustic charm, lies a beloved destination that's more than just a pumpkin farm—it's a testament to enduring love and family legacy. Welcome to Burt's Pumpkin Farm, where every pumpkin tells a story, but none quite as captivating as the love story of Johnny and Kathy Burt.

Their journey began in 1965, when fate brought Johnny and Kathy together at school. Two years later, they embarked on a journey of love, tying the knot on a warm August day in 1967. With the blessings of marriage, they soon welcomed two beautiful children into their lives: Kasey in 1969 and Russell in 1970.

Johnny, a dedicated machinist at Wrigley's Gum Company, worked tirelessly to provide for his growing family. But it was during a temporary relocation to Chicago for training that the seeds of their future were planted. It was there that the idea to cultivate pumpkins took root.

Upon their return to Georgia, Johnny and Kathy saw an opportunity to turn their passion into profit, planting and growing pumpkins to supplement their income. They began by selling their harvest near the entrance of Amicalola Falls & State Park, sharing their bounty with locals and travelers alike.

As their family continued to grow—with the arrival of their third child, Cameron—the Burts sought a more permanent location to nurture their pumpkin enterprise. They found the perfect spot and purchased the property that would eventually blossom into Burt's Pumpkin Farm. With dedication and hard work, they built a home and established their farm, welcoming visitors with open arms and the warm embrace of southern hospitality.

Through the years, Johnny and Kathy's love endured, as did their commitment to their family and community. Their children blessed them with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, enriching their lives with love and joy. In 2017, Johnny and Kathy celebrated their remarkable 50th wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring bond and the countless blessings they've received.

Today, as visitors wander through the pumpkin patches and festive attractions of Burt's Pumpkin Farm, they're not just experiencing a seasonal tradition—they're stepping into the legacy of Johnny and Kathy Burt. Their unwavering love and commitment have touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving a mark on the hearts of all who visit.

So, as you stroll through the rows of pumpkins and savor the sights and scents of autumn, take a moment to honor the remarkable love story that brought this enchanting farm to life. For it's through their enduring bond that Johnny and Kathy Burt have created a place where love, laughter, and pumpkins abound—a true testament to the power of love to cultivate beauty in the world.

God Bless You!
